A word about Scoliosis
Scoliosis is the S shaped spinal deformity starting mainly in pubescent girls due to postural imbalance at a time of rapid growth. Such imbalance can be detected early by looking at the shoes. At this time the surge of oestrogen from the newly activtated ovaries causes a slackening of the pelvic and lumbar ligaments so that the little girl changes shape to that of a young women. The unbalanced stimulation causes a pelvic tilt followed by a correction at the upper spine to maintain the horizontal pisition of the head to casue the well-known deformity.

Early intervention with Healthmarque Othotics will often reverse the deformity and even the advanced cases can be checked.

How do they work?

The pivotal role of fascia
Fascia is the all-pervading connective tissue that initially surrounds the original fertilised egg and continues to cover and connect with each subsequent cell division as the embryo grows. Thus this fascia connects with every structural and organic cell in the body.

The foot muscles are the first links in connective tissue chains that run up and down within the postural muscles that control posture and movement.

Connective tissues make up the bulk of our bodies and most of this COLLAGEN. Collagen is a liquid crystal, and is a semi-conductor capable of transmitting electrical impulses at rapid speeds. This represents a seperate Body Control that is functionally interconnected with the Brain.

Although there are several types of proprioceptive sensors in the sole of the foot that exert theirinfluence through their connections to the Central Nervous System (CNS) another source of postural information is the generation of electrical charges in the collagen fibres of the plantar muscles. This is the piezo-electrical property of liquid crystals. The collagen responds to footstep pressure causing a piezo-electriacl conversion of mechanical force into electrical communication along the musculo -fascial connective tissue chains mentioned above to modify posture. Thus it can be easily understood how weak or abnormal feel will affect posture and how the Healthmarque orthodics can help.

What happens now?
A kinesiological testing of the plantar muscles allows an accredited Healthmarque practitioner to identify which foot muscles are nor repsonding correctly and be able to prescribe the appropriate Healthmarque orthotic.

The Healthmarque orthotic is a thin combination of rubber and suede containing pockets that can be filled with a crumbled synthetic rubber designed to stimulate but not support selected the plantar muscles to produce a postural correction. We believe hard supporting orthotics will weaken the arches by taking over their muscular function.

Who should wear them?
Almost everybody.

As the world becomes urbanised the majority of the population is walking in shoes on hard level concrete surfaces. This does not allow for the proper reflex stimulation of the growing foot and muscular imbalances will occur. This easily evidenced by simply looking at the shoes. An uneven wearing at the heels means that each side of the body is getting a different stimulation with every footstep.

What conditions are treated?
All painful postural conditions casued my muscular imbalance as a result of faulty foot stimulation.

These include: Flat feet, claw feet, knock knees, excessive pronation and supination of the feet, scoliosis, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, painful knees and hips.
